Transition from ISO 9001:2015 to ISO 9001:2026
Publisher: ConsultHQ
Start with existing work
Collect process description, objectives, internal audit findings and customer feedback. The goal is to understand what the system achieves today, not just what documents it has. That review provides a basis for comparison with the ISO 9001:2026 edition.
Do a gap analysis
Compare current practice and documentation with the current text of the standard. Pay special attention to leadership, quality culture, risks and opportunities, as ISO highlights them in the explanation of the new edition. Sort the findings by relevance to your organization.
Implement and verify changes
Update procedures only where the job actually changes. Train responsible persons, collect application records and perform an internal audit. Close the findings with corrective measures whose effect can be verified. The management review should take into account the results of the changes.
Comply with the certification body
If you have a valid certificate according to the 2015 edition, ask your certification body for a transition plan and verification conditions. Consulting training can help, but the certification decision is made by an independent body.
